Just a little explanation on how the scoring works.
Short Version: Just trust me.
Long Version:
Points are received according to percentage of body weight lost, where 1% loss would gain you 100 points. For example, if I weighed 200 pounds and lost 2 pounds during the week those 2 pounds would represent a 1% reduction in body weight (2 / 200) and I would score 100 points. Further, if I weighed 100 pounds and also lost 2 pounds, that loss would represent a 2% reduction in body weight (2 / 100) and I would score 200 points.
In addition to allowing the points to be awarded accurately and fairly, this also gives the scoring a small compounding effect that rewards consistency. Say Bob and Tom both weigh 190 pounds at the beginning of the competition, and each lose 2 pounds a week. Bob reports his weight each week, while Tom forgets and only reports on the final 10th week. They each lost 20 pounds, but Bob would have earned more points.
Tom:
His 20 pounds represent a single 10.52% reduction in weight, giving him 1053 (1052.6) points.
Bob:
The first 2 pounds lost gives him 105 points (2 / 190 = 105.3). The next week he loses 2 more pounds from his newly trimmed 188 giving him 106 points (2 / 188 = 106.4). This continues until scoring 116 points in the 10th week for his 2 pound loss and ending up with a total of 1106 points.
If anyone would like to view the actual equation used it is shown here
